Common Tutoring Queries
What are your qualifications?
Qualifications will vary slightly by tutors, but Grasp Reading tutors are trained and receive ongoing mentorship to provide you with the best experience.
How do you charge for your teaching services?
Lessons 55 minutes and a minimum of twice a week. Tuition is paid monthly and calculated based on the number of lessons you want each week, excluding holidays and scheduled breaks to give consistent, equalized monthly payments. 55-minute lessons are ideal and reasonable as long as the student is old enough and has the stamina to focus for that duration. We do take breaks and play games, so most students are capable of this duration. To reserve your place, you will need to commit to a term of regular classes (as defined by Grasp Reading) and pay monthly tuition. Monthly tuition is due at the first of each month. Payment can be made by e-transfer, cash or cheque (for in person students) or paypal (fees apply) for Canadian residents and by Paypal (fees apply) for US residents.
Where do you hold your teaching sessions?
Lessons are available online - anywhere you have a good internet connection, Grasp Reading can be there for you.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
We understand that life is busy and things come up. We allow for flexible scheduling to help meet the needs of student's busy lives. For a full explanation of rescheduling and cancellation policies, please see: Policies.
What ages do you teach?
Any student from 3 to 100 can learn to read at Grasp Reading. We will adapt the curriculums for each student. We customize lessons and activities to suit the abilities and interests of our clients.
Do you teach EAL/ESL/EFL students?
Not at this time, but we may have more tutors in the future who can offer this service.
